The Professional Dancers Postgraduate Teaching Certifcate is designed specifically for dancers with a professional dancing background who strive for a career as a professional dance educator. The programme is conducted at postgraduate level in English via the Berlin office of the Royal Academy of Dance.

Requirements

We welcome applications from dancers with significant professional experience in dance and with advanced technical proficiency in ballet or contemporary dance. Applicants will also need to demonstrate their potential to study at postgraduate level, which will be determined as part of the selection process through a written personal statement, a reference and an interview (conducted online).

The admission process also involves a filmed extract, a written task and a relevant police check report. All designed to assess an applicant’ s potential to succeed on the programme.

Students whose first language is not English must successfully pass an English language proficiency test, i.e. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 7.0 overall, with no less than 6.5 in each area. The IELTS must have been taken no earlier than two years before the date of the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies is issued.
Some graduation or matriculation certificates contain a compulsory examination in English and these may be taken as an equivalent. If you have another recently achieved English language qualification, please check with our PDPTC Officer in Berlin to establish acceptability.

Cost of the programme

  • €7,380 for the academic year
  • £120/€145 registration fee on enrollment
